COAL POWER: Smart Policies for Cleaner,
CEO, National Coal Council
Wednesday, September 16, 2020 ~ 2:00 – 3:00 pm Eastern Time
A growing number of states and utilities have established carbon reduction goals to be met by mid-century or sooner. Meeting these goals with affordable, reliable energy will require enhanced deployment of low-carbon power systems.
In response to a request from the U.S. Secretary of Energy, the National Coal Council (NCC) recently assessed Federal and state policies that would support the accelerated deployment of advanced coal technologies and infrastructure for power generation.
Join us as NCC’s Janet Gellici addresses the following from this comprehensive new report:
- Critical coal generation technologies for existing and new coal power plants
- Federal policies and reforms that can be employed to advance R&D, minimize cost and reduce risk
- State initiatives that are supporting clean coal technology deployment
- Objectives that must be met within the next 20 years to meet mid-century carbon reduction targets
