Coal Q&A Webcast
Global Natural Gas Market Developments
Will Pearson, Analyst Global Energy & Natural Resources
Wednesday, April 17th, 2013 ~ 12:30 - 1:30 pm Eastern
At the American Coal Council's recent Spring Coal Forum, various industry analysts projected that natural gas prices would limit coal generation recovery in the near-term but that in the longer term rising prices might lead to heavier coal use and potentially some shifting of load back to coal. When that shift might happen and at what natural gas price points are leading questions on the minds of the coal suppliers, transporters and consumers today.
Congress and the Obama Administration continue to wrestle with questions surrounding U.S. fracking regulations and LNG exports while other nations begin putting in place their own indigenous shale and natural gas resources. The global gas market will continue to change at a rapid pace in coming years, as demand for gas surges in the U.S. while other major markets like China and India hope gas can limit dependence on oil.
Join us as Will Pearson with the Eurasia Group provides an update on market trends, activities and milestones in international natural gas markets. Among the topics to be addressed:
• Natural Gas in the U.S.: Jobs, exports & Obama's legacy
• Demand growth in Asia: Japan, China & India
• The emergence of shale gas beyond North America
