Coal Leadership Council Preparing Future Coal Industry Leaders Today
The ACC’s Coal Leadership Council (CLC) program launched in 2009 as an opportunity for extraordinary individuals throughout the coal industry to enhance their industry knowledge and networks through projects and activities that advance industry-wide objectives as well as professional development goals. Why CLC vs other Leadership Programs? ACC incorporates participant attendance at Miami Coal Forum and Coal Market Strategies Conference’s giving individuals' access to enhanced knowledge of important industry issues ~ including those impacting the supply chain of the coal industry (supply, consumption, transportation, and services). In addition, attendance at the conferences gives participants the opportunity to network and build professional relationships with peers, including engaging with others from throughout the coal supply chain. Fundamental objectives of the program have included development of business skills in project management, communications, research and public speaking. What Activities/Events Are Planned for CLC Participants? CLC participants receive complimentary registrations to each of the strategic industry issues conferences hosted by the American Coal Council ~ Miami Coal Forum (February 20-22, 2024/Miami, FL) and Coal Market Strategies Conference (August 13 - 15, 2024/Park City UT) These events are attended by senior level executives from the coal supply, consumption, transportation, trading, consulting, and supply services industries. Each ACC event provides the latest information on critical issues impacting the various sectors of the coal supply chain. For the Miami Coal Forum and Coal Market Strategies conferences, CLC participants attend a professional development program conducted by an expert facilitator. Seminars are designed to advance professional skills and focus on a variety of areas including coal-focused communications, management, and leadership. Finally, the CLC participants will identify, collaborate and present a project of industry relevance. What is Unique About the CLC? The CLC is specific to the coal industry ~ the community of participants and their activities focus exclusively on coal. The program is intended to compliment other corporate leadership development programs that are designed to advance more general business skills. Who Should Participate in the CLC, and What is the Cost? Entry-level staff and mid-level executives from the coal supply, consumption, transportation, and trading industries, as well as those working in companies that support these business sectors. We have had a wide range of program participants, from those early in their careers to those who became involved with coal later in their career path. The CLC program is open to all coal-related companies and organizations, with a discount for ACC member company participants. The program cost is $2,500 for ACC members and $3,250 for non-members. ACC reserves the right to limit the number of annual program participants in order to offer the best possible CLC experience. How is the CLC Structured? The CLC is organized as an annual program beginning in February and concluding in February. This one-year commitment is recommended to best benefit from the program offerings and opportunities. Who has Participated? To date more than 170 individuals have participated in the TLC program. The TLC program launched in 2009 and has had participation by more than 160 executives from the following companies throughout the coal supply chain: |
